Gerben has been working at Kolmer since 1995. “They were looking for people who could operate turning lathes and milling machines. Production, but also design. Once I started I never left!” Gerben turns standard motors into specials. He is an accurate go-getter who likes to sort things out and views safety as a top priority. He doesn’t shy away from challenging assignments. “The nice thing about my job is that they have confidence in me and give me a lot of freedom to work independently. After 25 years, therefore, my work is still challenging. Conjuring up a new solution for a customer and receiving positive feedback gives me a lot of satisfaction. A number of these solutions are now produced in series by our suppliers. I’m proud of that!”
Gerben followed a course in 3D drafting in 2019 and since then he has been working as a draughtsman for at least one day a week. He likes that combination very much. A 3D drawing is a beautiful and clear means to make the end result clear in advance. “Very useful both for customers and for us internally.” Gerben lives in Nunspeet with his girlfriend, their dog and two daughters who visit every other weekend. In his spare time he works in his girlfriend’s candy store, goes to the gym and always finds plenty to do in and around the house. “Many of my colleagues have worked at Kolmer for years. It a good way to get to know each other well. It means you can trust each other which is great. We always pitch in if the other needs help.”
