Kevin Polhoud is doing it! Combining work and study. He's earning his bachelor's degree while also learning a lot in practice. Kevin says, "Acquiring new knowledge and developing myself is what I enjoy. I learn just as much at work as I do in the classroom."
It was Martijn Stoffelsen, the director of Kolmer Electric Motors, who gave him the idea. Kevin explains, "I had just started at Kolmer when Martijn suggested a part-time study, alongside my job here. I had been planning to go back to full-time study, but this format actually suits me much better. In practice, I learn just as much as from the textbooks."
"It's going to be hard work, but I'm looking forward to it. This education is important to me. I enjoy working with my hands, but a diploma can take me further. I also want to engage more with my mind. And I do love a challenge!"
He's always been drawn to technology and further study. "Diving into the material, I love that. A technical study makes sense, it all fits together. And working at Kolmer suits me very well too! Learning new things, that's what I enjoy. In the future, I want to work independently. Being able to carry out projects from start to finish on my own. Gathering so much knowledge that others can come to me with questions. Technology is a great profession. The whole process of coming up with an idea, designing, making, and making a customer happy with it. Isn't that cool?"
