Tonny worked for one of Kolmer’s customers for ten years and in that time he got to familiarise himself with the organisation. “When I was asked to make the switch in 2010, I was immediately enthusiastic.” As a manager, Tonny is responsible for managing his colleagues in the Shipping, Engineering and Planning & Control Departments. In addition, he is in charge of tactical purchasing for Kolmer. Within this context, he regularly visits suppliers in Poland, Italy and China. “Each year we also speak to many suppliers at the Hannover Messe. I always enjoy the contact with third parties. Kolmer is a fairly flat organisation. It feels like a family business where anyone who wants to can develop themselves. I’m given total freedom in what I do which is absolutely great. Ideas are appreciated. Where my own team is concerned I expect people to share their thoughts with me and develop themselves.”
A driven, enthusiastic and inquisitive colleague, that’s Tonny. As a manager he learns to delegate and let go. The objective here is more room for long-term focus and attention for his people. Relationship Management, both internal and external, that’s what Tonny is good at. “Be honest and open with each other, call things as they are. That’s how I want to work. Don’t always try to carry the load yourself and ensure that we do it together. Kolmer’s been holding its own with the big boys for so long that it fills me with pride. We are not familiar with the word ‘no’. Simple or very complex motors; we’ll get it done in no time at all.” Tonny lives in Nunspeet with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys running and mountain biking and he also regularly visits the korfball field to encourage his daughters. Eating out or watching a movie or musical are things Tonny can enjoy.
